Terry Treetop and the Little Bear

 

I have reviewed a few books by Tali Carmi and here is another one. Kids love these books and my 6 year old is a big fan. 

Terry is a young boy who loves adventures aside of climbing trees. He was so excited that Spring came. Playing in his back yard he encountered a bear cub, a baby bear who was just as much happy to see Terry. They were playing together till a big bear came along. It was Barry's mom. (Terry named his new friend Barry). Terry wanted to play more, but Barry had to go together with his mom back to the woods. But on noooo... Terry could hear a crying sound. Baby Barry fell into a pit dug. He was a good climber, but the walls of a pit were so slippery and he could not get out.

Terry was a good climber too, but he was too small to help Barry himself. Oh my, what to do? 

And Terry, being a very smart boy, found a solution for help his new best friend. How did he do it? Oh..well... you have to grab your own copy and find out. Let's just say that he did get a chance to play with Barry again and even race to the top of the tree. I am sure they became good friends forever.

My kid really loved this book. It teaches compassion and creativity to help others. We had a good discussion afterwards about helping others even if you don't know them. That's how we make a world a better place :)

Green Smoothies: The Weight Loss & Detox

 

This book is a must for those who would like to make a conscious and healthy food choices in their life.  I am not really into smoothies but was curious to try what is all that buzz about. I tried a few recipes and must say that they were tastier that I thought. Especially when I used almond milk and bananas in them.  

I must confess, I am not a big veggie eater and this was a big switch. Neither is my son, but I would like to find a way to make him eat veggies. When I mention 'broccoli' it almost sounds like a worst punishment in the world. But the smoothies I made were quite tasty, filling and kept me full and energized for a few hours. 

Green smoothies is a key to weight loss. I do need to lose about 20lbs and I am not delusional about that, but once you cross over 40, it's so hard. I followed with my smoothie diet for a few days and lost about 2-3lbs. Pretty good if you can stick with it for a long time, but for me, it's just the discipline, that I don't have. I would definitely recommend this book for detox cleansing days to give your body a rest, as well as get ready for the summer. It contains a number of recipes and everyone definitely will find a few favorites.

My new find - Petunia Skincare 1.5mm 540 Needles Derma Roller

 

If someone just not long ago told me that you can take steps in age preventative direction by mutilating yourself by puncturing your own skin multiple times with a roller, I would seriously think about their sanity. But it looks like doing insane things sometimes delivers really real results. I was so excited to get a chance to review this derma roller and see if it really works as good as all the buzz suggests.

The roller is a hand held device that you gently roll over your skin concentrating on wrinkles and lines and by causing tiny little punctures it triggers skin's defense mechanism and boosts collagen production, repairing those punctures and therefore boosting your skin resilience to wrinkles. At least that's how I understand it. The person who thought of it is a genius. As skeptic as I am, I got right into action. If I say that it doesn't hurt at all, I would be a liar. It does, but on different areas differently. It's was OK and very bearable between my eye brows, but it caused a lot more ouchy around my lips and smile lines. This treatment is definitely something to get used to, but it does work. Who said 'no pain - no gain' was right. But, after about a week of using it between my eye brows, where my real problem is, my lines were significantly less visible. I would also suggest to use it with a Retinol serum or Hyaluronic acid to further improve the results. It's a very smart beauty tool, that comes in it's own acrylic case and can remain clean when not in use.
